Royal Tunbridge Wells
Royal Tunbridge Wells (often referred to as Tunbridge Wells) is an upmarket attractive town in Western Kent that came into being as a spa frequented by the Royal family and members of high society from London.
Anchored by its shopping centre at the top and the famous pantiles at the bottom, it offers an abundance of eateries and boutiques up and down its high street, as well as parks and open spaces for families to enjoy.
Tunbridge Wells is just 10 miles from The Cherry Tree Inn in Ticehurst.
Hastings
A popular East Sussex seaside resort, with a charming old town, pier and traditional sea front entertainment, it is certainly worth a visit to the Hastings Fisherman’s Museum and Hastings Museum and Art Gallery.
It offers a warm welcome to all ages, plus plenty of fish and chips, ice cream and candy floss. A flat water-front path makes this a fun and accessible day out for all generations.
Hastings is only 17 miles from The Cherry Tree Inn at Ticehurst.
Rye
Rye is also positioned on the East Sussex coast. With cobbled streets, and picturesque streetscapes, its historic roots and charm make it a great tourism destination. Cute tea rooms and high quality gift and antique shops, coupled with a market each Thursday create a bustling place with great atmosphere.
The harbour is packed with old fishing boats and the sandy bay of Candy Sands just a little further away.
Rye is not far, only 19 miles from The Cherry Tree at Ticehursturst.
Tenterden
With a leafy parade and a variety of Wealden architecture from across the centuries Tenterden offers fascinating ancient heritage, traditional shopping, family fun including the Kent and Sussex Steam Train Railway and a spacious playground in the park, plenty of countryside activities and events.
Tenterden offers a great day out and only 16 miles from The Cherry Tree at Ticehurst.
Cranbrook
Last but certainly not least is the historic market town of Cranbrook. With its medieval cloth halls and weatherboard cottages it offers a relaxed atmosphere and some lovely visitor attractions, including the Cranbrook Museum, the Union Windmill Mill and at its heart a high street of independent traders including speciality shops, coffee shops, a patisserie and art gallery.
